Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the Indonesian Occupational Therapy Journal undergo a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed from one another to ensure objectivity, fairness, and scientific integrity throughout the evaluation process.

The peer review process consists of the following stages:

1. Initial Editorial Screening

The Editor conducts a preliminary assessment to ensure that the manuscript aligns with the journal’s aims and scope and meets the minimum requirements regarding quality, originality, formatting, and completeness of submission.

2. Reviewer Assignment

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area addressed by the manuscript.

3. Peer Review Evaluation

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on several criteria, including originality, methodological rigor, scientific contribution, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the fields of occupational therapy and occupational science. The review process is conducted anonymously and objectively.

4. Editorial Decision Based on Reviewer Recommendations

After considering the reviewers’ reports, the Editor will make one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without revision;

  • Accept with minor revisions;

  • Request major revisions; or

  • Reject.

5. Author Revision

Where revisions are required, authors are expected to revise their manuscript in accordance with the reviewers’ and editor’s comments and resubmit the revised version for further evaluation.

6. Final Editorial Decision

The Editor reviews the revised manuscript and determines the final decision regarding publication.

7. Copyediting and Publication

Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, proofreading, and final preparation before being published online in the appropriate journal issue.
