Publication Ethics

Indonesian Occupational Therapy Journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct in scholarly publishing. These publication ethics apply to all parties involved in the publication process, including editors, reviewers, and authors. The journal follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in addressing all aspects of publication ethics.

Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  • Ensuring that the editorial process is conducted fairly, objectively, and without discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnicity, nationality, or political views of the authors.

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and not disclosing any information concerning a manuscript to unauthorized individuals.

  • Refraining from using submitted manuscripts for personal or professional gain.

  • Making publication decisions based on the scientific contribution, originality, clarity, and relevance of the manuscript to the journal’s aims and scope.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are responsible for:

  • Providing objective and constructive evaluations of the manuscripts under review.

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of manuscripts and not disseminating or using any information contained therein for personal benefit.

  • Declining to review manuscripts in cases where a conflict of interest exists with the author(s) or the content of the manuscript.

  • Submitting reviews in a timely manner and within the agreed review period.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for:

  • Ensuring that submitted work is original, free from plagiarism, and has not been previously published or submitted simultaneously to another journal for consideration.

  • Properly acknowledging all sources and references used in the manuscript.

  • Including all individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research and preparation of the article as authors.

  • Reporting research data, methods, and findings accurately, honestly, and without fabrication, falsification, or manipulation.

  • Disclosing any potential conflicts of interest and all sources of funding that supported the research.

Actions Against Ethical Misconduct

Violations of publication ethics will be treated seriously. The editorial board reserves the right to reject submitted manuscripts or retract published articles found to violate ethical standards, including but not limited to plagiarism, data manipulation, and duplicate publication.

Authors who engage in ethical misconduct may be subject to sanctions, including a temporary prohibition from submitting manuscripts to the Indonesian Occupational Therapy Journal for a specified period of time.
